acids and bases:When we dissolve a substance in water we make an aqueous solution. The solution may be acidic, alkaline or neutral depending on the chemical dissolved. BASES ARE CHEMICALS WHICH CAN NEUTRALIZE ACIDS.
ALKALIES ARE BASES WHICH DISSOLVE IN WATER. PURE WATER IN NEUTRAL.
all acids form H+ ions when we add them to water. It is hydrogen ions which make a solution acidic.
All alkalies form hydroxide ions (OH-) when we add them to water . it is hydroxide ions that make a solution alkaline.
indicators measure how acidic or alkaline something is. Acidic is 1-67 is neutral.7-14 is alkaline
We can make salts by reacting acids with metals.this is only possible if the metal is above hydrogen in the reactivity series. If it is then hydrogen gas is produced when the acid reacts with the metal, and a salt i s also produced.
acid+base... Salt+water
Reacting an acid and alkali together to form a soluble salt. A neutralization takes place. use an indicator to know if the acid and alkali have completely reacted.
precipitation= making salts by reacting two solutions together
acids and alkalis
Making salts from metals or bases.
