Market gardening is a type of intensive commercial farming. It is done to make as much profit as possible from the produce. Goods such as flowers, fruit and vegetables are ideal to make good profits from the crop. They are often located close to their market. Market Gardening covers only 5% of farmland area but makes up 25% of agricultural export. Land is scare as Netherlands is densely populated.

Market gardening is big in the Netherlands. It has a lot of very flat land on which a lot of green houses have been built. The greenhouses offer superb growing conditions for most of the year. Holland is ideally situated in Europe and exports much of it’s produce to the UK and other neighbouring countries.
