General boxing combinations
The following combinations are very basic general purpose boxing combinations that can work for most fighters. Every combination in this section has a specific situation or type of oppenent in mind.
-
Versus Shell
A good general purpose combination to deal with opponents that tend to "shell up" when under fire.Fire off two or more jabs to put them in their shell and then use a cross to open or split their guard. Sometimes pushing rather than punching. Then use the opening to deliver an uppercut and end with a body shot.
-
Versus Lead parry
When an opponent tends to make the mistake of parrying your jab with his lead hand this combination makes him pay for that mistake with an overhand punch over his parrying hand followed up by a shovel hook. The reason to follow with a shovel hook is because it can easily be changed to an uppercut if the overhand was particularly succesfull, if not finishing to body is a nice way to change levels on your opponent.
-
Versus Straigth punch
Deliver a jab to the body as you slip the straight punch and then perform the basic 1-2-3 combination afterwards. This combination works best on the inside slip.
-
Versus Counter
Give your opponent the most basic combo, the 1-2, and if he attempts to counter with a hook, weave under and follow up with a lead hook to uppercut.
