15Whole - Part - Whole is a teaching method where the teacher begins with a brief explanation of the whole skill or stroke and the participants 'have a go'. The stroke or skill is then broken down into a series of progressive part practices which permit the development of the stroke or skill at the appropriate level. The teacher should then return to to the whole stroke practices to assess progress before continuing further. The main theme of each session should start and finish with the whole stroke or skill.

16The Nofio Ysgol Framework is the National Curriculum Swimming Assessment for Wales. From September 2015, regardless of what school year a child is in they will be assessed using the same criteria.
The assessment criteria has been agreed as:- ASwim 1000m with clothes on, tread water for 10 minutes and then climb out over the side.
- BSwim 25m with clothes on, tread water for 30 seconds and demonstrate an action for getting help. Move into the H.E.L.P position . Demonstrate a shout & signal action.
