Some music will be remembered forever. This course covers the Area of Study 1: Western Classical Tradition 1650-1910 for the AQA GCSE Music syllabus. This topic comes up in Component 1 on Paper 1, which counts for 40% of the GCSE grade. Students must cover two areas of study (one of which must be Area of Study 1 and the other a choice of one from Areas of Study 2–4). Included in this course is an in-depth study of Haydn's "Symphony 101 in D major The Clock Movt. 2".

The period of music we will be examining will begin with the Baroque. Notable composers of this age include Johann Sebastian Bach, George Friedrich Handel and Antonio Vivaldi. This style spread across Europe. A small orchestra was used.
