Flashcards do conjunto (22)
- 1Push-pull control rod systemA sequence of rods link the control surface to the cabin input. Bell-crank levers are used to change the direction of the rod routing. Idler levers prevent buckling of the rods.
- 2Push-pull control rod system (español)Una secuencia de barras conecta la superficie de control a la entrada de la cabina. Las palancas de manivela se utilizan para cambiar la dirección de la ruta de la barra. Las palancas idler evitan el pandeo de las varillas
- 3What do the tailplane (pitch), rudder (yaw) and aileron (roll) control systems need?Trim actuators (actuador de compensacion)
Spring feel units - 4What does the rudder (yaw) control system need?Feel unit
- 5What do the tailplane (pitch), rudder (yaw) and aileron (roll) actuation systems need?Power Control Units (PCUs)
(hydraulically powered) - 6Simple mechanical actuationThe pilot feeds a mechanical input to the flight control actuators, the summing link will rotate about the bottom pivot, thus applying an input to the servo-valve. Hydraulic fluid will then flow into one side of the ram while exiting the opposite side resulting in movement of the ram
- 7Simple mechanical actuation BisThen the feedback link will rotate the summing link about the upper pivot returning the servo valve input to the null position as the commanded position is achieved.
- 8Simple mechanical actuation AutopilotElectrical demands from the autopilot computer drive an electrical input which takes precedence over the pilot's demand
- 9In which cases simple mechanical actuation is used?In the aileron, elevator and rudder when a quick response is needed but the aerodynamic loads are reasonably light
- 10Mechanical screwjack actuatorsInstead of an hydraulic piston actuator, we have a gearbox, hydraulic motor and screwjack. Relatively low response but withstand large loads.
- 11Integrated Actuator Package (IAP)Electrically powered flight controls. Same as simple mechanical actuation but with one SV, constant speed motor and variable displacement hydraulic pump
- 12Integrated Actuator Package (IAP) Advantages and Disadvantages- ADV: no hydraulic line feeding the IAP
- DISV: the pump is always running, though with zero displacemente: windage power loss - 13Name all the advanced actuation implementations- Direct drive actuation
- Fly-by-Wire (FBW) actuation
- Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator (EHA)
- Electro-Mechanical Actuator (EMA) - 14Direct-drive actuationA SV in the hydraulic actuator requires 10-15mA drive signal. This small because the control signal is effectively amplified within the hydraulic section. The aim is to use an electrical drive with the sufficient power to obviate the need of a SV/1st satge valve. The main power spool is directly driven by torque motors requiring a higher signal current
- 15Fly-by-WireIntegrates the pilot's demands with the measured flight parameters. The pilot's demand is first of all transduced into electrical signal in the cabin and sent to a group of independent computers
- 16Analyzed data in Fly-by-Wire- Pitch, roll, yaw rate and linear accelerations - Angle of attack and sideslip - Airspeed, pressure altitude, radio altimeter indications - Stick and pedal demands - Other cabin commands (landing gear condition, thrust lever position..)
- 17Consequenced of FBW- Improvement of stability qualities - Flight envelope protection - Trim optimization
- Turbulence suppression, decrease of fatigue, increase of passenger comfort
- Easy interface - Weight reduction - Low mainteinance - Less training for pilots - 18Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator (EHA)When a demand is received from the ACE, the power drice electronics is able to react sufficiently rapidly to drive the variable speed motor and hence pressurize the actuator such that the associated control surface may be moved to satisfy the demand. More-electric version of linear actuators
- 19ACEActuator Contol electronics
- 20Electro-Mechanical ActuatorReplaces the electrical signaling and power actuation of the EHA with an electric motor and gearboc assembly applying the motice force to move the ram. Used on aircrafts for trim and door actuation.
EMA is the mire electric version of the screwjack actuator - 21Electrical back-up hydraulic actuators EBHA Normal OperationHydraulic mode: the actuator receives hydraulic power from the G/Y hydraulic system and the servovalve moderates the supply to the actuator
- 22Electrical back-up hydraulic actuators EBHA Back-up OperationEHA mode: electrical power is received from the aircraft AC electrical system and the FBW computer feeds demands to the EHA control package. The rotational direction and speed of the electrical motor determine the direction and rate of travel of the actuatior ram
