Flashcards do conjunto (32)
- 1Architecture style can affect properties of a system? List some of these properties?Performance
Security
Safety
Availability
Maintainablity - 2Advantages and disadvantages of using large grain components?Using large-grain components improves
performance but reduces maintainability - 3Advantages and disadvantages of introducing redundant components?Introducing redundant components improves availability but makes security more difficult
- 4What does localising safety related features usually mean?Localising safety-related features usually means more communication so degraded performance
- 5Advantages and disadvantages of small grain components?Small-grain components improve reuse but
degrade performance - 6What do architectural styles do?Are a mechanism/templates for structuring system architectures
– Are a stylized description of good design practice, which has been tried and tested in different environments
– Include information about when they are and when the are not useful
– May be represented using tabular and graphical descriptions. - 7Within, repository architecture style what are the two ways sub systems must exchange data?Shared data is held in a central database or repository and may be accessed by all sub-systems
Each sub-system maintains its own database and passes data explicitly to other sub-systems. - 8When is the repository architecture model used? When large amounts of data are to be shared, the repository model of sharing is most commonly used a this is an efficient data sharing mechanism.
– Particularly true for a system running on a single computer - 9What is the layered architecture style used to model?Used to model the interfacing of sub-systems.
- 10What does it layered architecture organise the system into? What do each lower layer provide?Organises the system into a set of layers (or abstract machines)
• Each lower layer provide a set of services to the layer above - 11What does the layered architecture support? What happens when a layer is changed?Supports the incremental development of sub-systems in different layers.
– When a layer interface changes, only the adjacent layer is affected. - 12What does the client server architecture style organise the system into?Organises the system as a set of services and servers, and clients that access and use the services.
- 13What are the 3 main components of client server architecture style?– Servers that offer services – e,g. print servers, files servers etc.
– Clients that call on the services offered by servers
– A network that allows clients to access the services - 14What should the design reflect?Design should reflect the logical structure of the application being developed
- 15How is the system implemented in two tier client server architecture? The system is implemented as a single logical server plus an indefinite number of clients that use that server
- 16Difference between thin client model and fat client model? In a thin client model , the presentation layer is implemented on the client but in a fat-client model, some or all of the application processing is carried out on the client
- 17What is implemented on the server in a thin client model?Data management, application processing and database are implemented on a server.
- 18What is implemented on the server in a fat client model?Data management and database functions are implemented on the server.
- 19In a three architecture, where might each of the application architecture layers execute? In a three-tier architecture, each of the application architecture layers may execute on a separate processor.
- 20What does the execution on separate processors allow?Allows for better performance than a thin-client approach and is simpler to manage than a fat-client approach
- 21Why is three tier architecture a more scalable architecture?A more scalable architecture - as demands
increase, extra servers can be added - 22When transformation are sequential, what is the pipe and filter architecture known as and what can it be used for? When transformations are sequential, this is a batch sequential model which is extensively used in data processing systems.
- 23What does the SOA provide?SOA provides the conceptual framework for realizing notion of software as a service
- 24How does the SOA achieve it's goal?– by allowing software systems to be dynamically composed using services discoverable on the network
- 25How are services offered to the organisation using a service oriented architecture style?Services are offered by any provider inside or outside the consumer organization
- 26How is services allocated using the SOA style?– The consumer organization creates applications by integrating
services from a range of providers
– Applications can delay the binding of services until runtime
– Composing SO applications at runtime is called ‘orchestration’ - 27How do service users pay for services?Service users can pay for services according to their use rather than provision
- 28How does a service define what it needs from another service?A service defines what it needs from another service by setting out its requirements in a message and sending it
to that service - 29Describe the whole exchanging message process?A service defines what it needs from another service by setting out its requirements in a message and sending it to that service
• The receiving service parses the message, carries out the computation and, on completion, sends a message to the requesting service
• This service then parses the reply to extract the required information
• Unlike software components, services do not ‘call’ methods on other services - 30What does model view controller architectural style provide and what does it allow?Provides the framework for many GUI design
Allows for multiple presentations of an object and separate interactions with these presentations. - 31What is model view controller the basis of?Is the basis of management interaction in web-based systems
