Flashcards do conjunto (11)
- 1Coordinate planeA coordinate plane is an important tool for working with these equations. It is formed by a horizontal number line, called the x-axis, and a vertical number line, called the y-axis. The two axes intersect at a point called the origin.
- 2Double number lineDouble number line diagrams are best used when the quantities have different units. Double number line diagrams can help make visible that there are many, even infinitely many, pairs of numbers in the same ratio—including those with rational number entries. As in tables, unit rates (R) appear in the pair (R, 1).
- 3equationa statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal (indicated by the sign =).
- 4percentby a specified amount in or for every hundred.
- 5proportiona part, share, or number considered in comparative relation to a whole.
- 6RatioTwo numbers that have a relationship with each other. Measuring units.
- 7ratio tableRatio table is a table that show the equivalent value of the ratios.
- 8tape diagramIt's a model drawn out in rectangles the shows how the ratio is represented.
- 9unit priceThe "Unit Price" (or "unit cost") tells you the cost per liter, per kilogram, per pound, etc, of what you want to buy. Just divide the cost by the quantity: Example: 2 liters for $3.80 is $3.80/2 liters = $1.90 per liter.
- 10unit rate & rateRates. ... When rates are expressed as a quantity of 1, such as 2 feet per second or 5 miles per hour, they are called unit rates. If you have a multiple-unit rate such as 120 students for every 3 buses, and want to find the single-unit rate, write a ratio equal to the multiple-unit rate with 1 as the second term.
- 11Constant(s)Constants is a letter or number. It will never change.
