- 13.2 Breathing and respiration.Sundus mohamed 8a

- 2what is respiration?Respiration refers to a series of chemical changes that take place in cells to release energy.

- 3What is the respiratory system? The system of organs and tissues that take air into the body.

- 4How does the respiratory system work?it takes air into your body and ultimately makes oxygen available to the cells.
- 5When you breathe in what happens to the air?some air may come in through your mouth but most of it through your nose its warmed, moistened then cleaned.

- 6—Breathing allows you to take in the oxygen your cells need but when you exhale, you also breathe out a lot of water. When at rest, humans exhale up to 17.5 milliliters (0.59 fluid ounces) of water per hour, according to a 2012 article but you lose about four times that amount when you exercise, the study said.

- 7what do the nostrils do?They take in the air then filter large dust particles.
- 8what does the mucus do?mucus is produced by gland sin the skin lining the inside of your hose and millions of cellio in it.

- 9Riddle : Im as light as a feather yet the strongest man cant hold me for more than a minute. What am i?Breath

- 10What does the pharynx do?It connects the mouth and nose to the oesophagus.

- 11how much mucus do you swallow each day? You're swallowing on average twice a minute even when you're sleeping at night says Michael Ellis, an ear, nose and throat doctor at Tulane University.

- 12what is the trachea? It is a tube as thick as a garden hose.
- 13What are the alveoli?A cluster of sacs at the end of the bronchioles where gas exchange takes place.

- 14what do the alveoli provide? An alveoli provides oxygen.

- 15What happens to the oxygen once it is in the blood? It enters the red blood cells, and the flow of blood carries the oxygen to cells where its needed.
- 16What is Carbon dioxide and what does the body do with it?Carbon dioxide is a waste product that would harm your body if you did not get rid of it. Carbon dioxide moves from your cell into your blood.

- 17What is breathing and can you stop yourself from breathing?Breathing is involuntary- although you can force yourself to stop breathing for a while.

- 18What is the diaphragm?Sheet of muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen.

- 19What does respiratory require?1-Glucose
2-oxygen. - 20How much alveoli makes up your lung?
