Flashcards do conjunto (26)
- 1DistanceThe measurement between two points measured in metres
- 2TimeMeasured in seconds or multiples of
- 3SpeedMeasured distance divided by time elapsed. Measured in km per hour
- 4VelocityMs-1 Measured distance divided by time elapsed in seconds
- 5AccelerationAnything where there is a change in speed. Measured in change of velocity over time
- 6DecelerationNegative acceleration
- 7Distance-time graphGraph representing change in distance over time
- 8Speed-time graphGraph representing change in speed over time
- 9ForceA push, pull or twist and is measured in Newtons (N)
- 10Balanced ForcesNo net force. If the object is moving it is moving at a constant speed. If it is not moving it will remain stationary
- 11Unbalanced ForcesThere is a net force and the object will accelerate or decelerate
- 12NewtonThe SI unit for forces; named after Sir Isaac Newton
- 13ThrustTo push an object in a particular direction
- 14MassThe amount of matter inside an object
- 15WeightThe effect of gravity on an object's mass
- 16FrictionThe resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another. The force that opposes movements of an object
- 17DragA force that opposes movement/motion of an object through a fluid
- 18PressureForce per unit area
- 19Pascal (Pa)The SI unit of pressure equal to one unit per square Newton
- 20EnergyThe ability to do work
- 21JouleThe SI unit of work or energy
- 22Gravitational Potential EnergyThe energy stored in an object due to its height above the Earth
- 23Kinetic EnergyThe energy of an object due to its motion
- 24WorkWhen force moves an object, resulting in the transfer of energy to that object. Measured in joules
- 25PowerThe rate of doing work, or the rate of transfer of energy. Measured in Watts
- 26WattThe SI unit for power
