- 1Hello my name is Charlotte and I studying Tourism Management, I am here today to present my poster about Higher Education skills, the four skills I have picked is Time management, Harvard referencing, critical thinking and report v essay writing. I have picked these skills as they are the most relatable skills to my everyday learning on my higher education course.The first skill I am going to talk about is Tm According to the management study guide "Time Management refers to managing time effectively so that the right time is allocated to the right activity.
Effective time management allows individuals to assign specific time slots to activities as per their importance" - 2The benfits of this is you will become more organised when doing work, sticking to a good TM plan means you will never miss a deadline when having muliple assignments another benefit to TM is it reduces stress.I use TM in my everyday life mainly when I'm in college, when I get multiple assignments given I set up a plan and setting targets that I need to achieve, my targets would include being able to set a time scale of each piece of work that I got given a to be able to stick to it. This would ensure that I never missed a dealine.
- 3The next skill I have chosen is HR, from the Unviersity of Kent Referencing is a system that allows you to acknowledge the sources of information you use in your writing. If you do not reference your sources, you are plagiarising. You must provide a reference whenever you quote, paraphrase or summarise someone else’s ideas, theories or data.HR is a skill that every student must follow when doing an assignment and using another persons piece of work, as you can see on the poster the HR guide shoes how you need to referecne websites, books, photos, E-books, journal articles and many more.

- 5when referecing someone else's work there are 2 types you need to do, reference lists and in text reference. Reference lists are right at the end of your work, showing full references that you have used in your work these need to be in alphabetical order starting with the authors surname,In text references are in the body of your work when you are direct quoting, the reference would have the authors surname and first letter of their first name, along with the year it was published.
- 6I have used HR"Critical thinking is the analysis of an issue or situation and the facts, data or evidence related to it. Ideally, critical thinking is to be done objectively—meaning without influence from personal feelings, opinions or biases—and it focuses solely on factual information"
Erstad,W. (2018). - 7CT needs to be something that you use when doing work. The information you have used in your work needs to be able to look at every aspect of the information and take in to account of every argument not being biased.The benfits of CT are it saves time when writing your work as you do not need to include everything it helps you understand what is useful and what is not. Another benefit is it helps with communication skills, it helps you when you are evaluating and finding evidence which will back up what you have spoken about.
- 8The final skill I am going to speak about Report VS Essay.According to all assignments help report writing is "It is the academic paper that is primarily used to provide information. You have to write it dividing into many sections, heading and subheadings. It should be written in such a way that reader can quickly read a particular section by finding the required information"
- 9An essay is a short piece of writing which is mainly focused a subject or particular subject,An introduction that gives the reader an idea of what they are about to learn and presents an argument in the form of a thesis statement

A conclusion that summarizes the content and findings of the essay - 10A conclusion that summarizes the content and findings of the essay. this is according to the bow valley CollegeThe difference between Reports and Essay, the main difference is a report is there to give information for the reader and an Essay is the writers personal work there ideas and opinions.
- 11Another difference is an Essay has just a title and no headings or subheadings where a report does has subheadings and headings which can be put into numbers.Also, reports are the most popular one out of the two which most people us in everyday life however, essays are normally just used in colleges or universities.
