Flashcards do conjunto (12)
- 1Measuring Acceleration due to gravity Method1) Measure h from bottom of bearing to trapdoor
2) Flick switch - simultaneously starts timer and disconnects electromagnet
3) Ball drops and hits trapdoor, breaking the circuit - 2Measuring Acceleration due to gravity Setup

- 3Measuring acceleration due to gravity sources of errorMainly the measurement of h (uncertainty of 1mm with a ruler)
Also switch delay or air resistance, human error if using stopwatch, Parallax error with ruler (prevented by using a set square) - 4Motion of trolley on a slope Method1) Measure length of trolley
2) make a start line on the ramp (starts from same position)
3) Measure angle of slope and distance from start line to light gate
4) LET GO of trolley (U=0)
5) data logger records time taken for trolley to pass through light gate to calculate V
6) Vary Angle/mass/shape/size/material to see how it affects motion - 5Motion of trolley on a slope Setup

- 6Motion of trolley on a slop Sources of errorUsing a light gate gives much lower uncertainty than using a stopwatch to calculate uncertainty manually
- 7Investigating effect of collisions on motion Method1) Set up video camera
2) measure length of trolley
3) place trolley at start line, let go so (u=0)
4) once trolley at rest, stop recording
5) video analysis software - view frame by frame
time = number of frames for trolley to pass a point multiplied by (1s/frame rate)
Velocity = length/time - 8Investigating effect of 2 trolleys colliding on their motion - Method1) Measure lengths of both trolleys
2) start recording
3) push trolleys so they collide
4) stop recording when they've come to a stop
5) video analysis software - view frame by frame
time = number of frames for trolley to pass a point multiplied by (1s/frame rate)
Velocity = length/time - 9Investigating effect of collisions on motion SetupWith meter ruler below!

- 10Investigating I/V characteristics of a component1) Use a variable resistor to alter the potential difference across component and current flowing through it
2) Record V and I
3) plot a graph of current against potential difference - 11Investigating I/V characteristics of a component (setup)Resistor = the component
