- 1What was the age of imperialism and when did it begin?It was the age when European powers extended their control over the world. It began in the 17th century.
- 2What is imperialism?Expansion of territory by powerful nations.
- 3What is colonisation?Ownership of an area being taken away from indigenous people and claimed by others.
- 4What does divide and conquer mean?The process of exploiting the pre-existing rivalries between indigenous communities.
