- 1Sedimentary RocksFormed by sediment that is deposited over time, usually as layers at the bottom of lakes and oceans. Sometimes plants and animals get into the layer and create fossils
- 2Igneous RocksFormed by the cooling of lava or magma in tiny crystals. From the latin word 'ignis' meaning fire.
- 3Metamorphic RocksSedimentary or igneous rocks that have changed overtime because of extreme heat or pressure
