Comparatives and Superlatives

We use the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs to compare things, people, actions and states.

Comparatives

Superlatives

For adj in simple form add -er

If ending in E only add -R

Adj- ending in -Y, change it to "i" and add -er

For CVC, double the consonat and add -er

Two syllables or more, not ending in -Y, use MORE before the adj

For CVC, double the consonat and add -EST

If ending in -E, only add -ST

Two syllables ending in Y, change the Y to I the add -EST

For adj in base form add -EST

Two syllables or more, not ending in Y, use MOST before the adj
