    1. Why do we need records?
      1. Service users' histories not forgotten
        1. Users can check what is happening to them
          1. Care workers can remember what they have done / agreed
            1. Signed records
            2. Care can be provided in teams
              1. Different agencies
              2. = Make care safer
            3. PERSONAL RECORDS
              1. Have a right to access own records
                1. Understand care better
                  1. Easier to spot mistakes
                  2. Improve communication with CW or GP
                    1. Formal application / pay a fee
                    2. Data Protection Act 1998 / Freedom of Information Act 2000
                    3. ELECTRONIC RECORDS
                      1. Advantages
                        1. Better access = internet access and PC / more accessible for visually impaired
                          1. Legibility = typed
