COMPUTER STORAGE

COMPUTER STORAGE

1. Cloud Storage

   • Drop Box
   • One Drive
   • Google Drive
   • ICloud Storage
   • One Note
   • Cloud storage is a model of computer data storage in which the digital data is stored in logical pools. The physical storage spans multiple servers, and the physical environment is typically owned and managed by a hosting company.

2. Magnetic Storage

   • Fixed/Internal hard disk drive
   • Portable hard disk drives
   • Magnetic tapes
   • Magnetic storage media depend on the magnetic properties of certain materials. It is coated on the surface of a disk or tape that can be magnetised in such a way as to represent a 1 or a 0

3. Optical storage media

   • CD-R and DVD-RW
   • CD/DVD
   • CD-ROM and DVD-ROM
   • CD-RW and DVD-RW
   • DVD-RAM
   • Blu-ray discs
   • In computing and optical disc recording technologies, an optical disc is a flat, usually circular disc which encodes binary data in the form of pits and lands on a special material on one of its flat surfaces.

4. Solid state drives

   • Memory sticks/pen drives
   • Flash memory cards
   • A solid-state drive is a solid-state storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. It is also sometimes called solid-state disk, although SSDs do not have physical disks.

5. Serial Access

   • CD-ROM
   • Diskettes
   • WORM
   • DVD-ROM
   • Serial access is where data records are stored one after the other with no regard to the order. This is usually an unprocessed file. Serial files are read by starting at the beginning and reading through every record until you find the one that you want.
