1. Scene 1

   • The opening scene. In a black out, three performers stand in a line in front of the audience. One performer starts to turn their torch on and of repeatedly. One by one, the others join in a choreographed light sequence. After all the torches are turned off, one performer turns theirs back on and starts to search around the performance space, looking for something and whispering a line from the plays we chose. Again, the other performers join in one by one. The whispering and searching gradually builds up until it turns into a frantic chase for something. On the cue line "I didn't mean to rape her", the performers stop and sharply turn their torches at the audience. One by one the torchnext scene. es turn off and we transition into the
     • This scene stemmed from the idea of representing a police search to suggest that a character goes missing or is hurt later or in the piece. We wanted to start our piece with a possible ending related to the consequences of domestic violence and abuse. The flashing lights portray the lights of a police car, placing the audience in fornt of a crime scene, as if they are neighbours of an abusive household.

2. Scene 2

   • As a spotlight dims up on stage, a performer runs out, as a child, and shouts "I'm it!", starting a game of 'stuck in the mud'. Normal stage lights turn on and the two other performers run out from behind the white boards at the back of the stage and try to avoid being tagged. When they're both tagged, they begin to argue and the only girl our of the 'children' gets pushed down. Suddenly, the child-like demeanor is gone and the spotlight turns on the girl. She looks hurt and upset, on the verge of tears and gradually becoming more and more anxious and worried. The other performers are whispering abuse at her from the dark. After a few seconds, the lights turn back to normal and everyone is a child again. They decide to play hide and seek. A pre-recorded monologue starts to play over the music - it is a man talking about all the things he enjoys doing with the woman he loves.
