Geography: Coastal Landforms Caused by Deposition
  1. Deposition forms Beaches
    1. Beaches are found on caosts between the high and low water mark (Highest and lowest point on the land the sea level gets to)
      1. They're formed by constructive waves depositing things like sand and shingle
        1. Sand and Shingle beaches have different Charateristics
          1. Sand beaches are flat and wide - Sand particles are small and the weak backwash can move them back down the beach - Creating a long, gentle slope
            1. Shingle beaches are steep and narrow - Shingle particles are large and the weak backwash can't move them back down the beach. The shingle particles build up and create a steep slope
          2. LSD Forms Spits and Bars
            1. Spits
              1. They form at sharp bends in a coastline
                1. LSD Transports sand and shingle past the bend and deposits into the sea
                  1. Strong Winds and waves may cause the spit to curve at the end
                    1. The sheltered area behind the spit is protected from waves - Plants can grow here
                      1. Over time, that area can became a salt marsh or mud flat
                      2. Bars
                        1. A Bar is formed when a spit joins two headlands together
                          1. The bar cuts off the bay between the two headlands
                            1. This means a lagoon can form behind the bar
