3. Formação

   • A first conditional é formada por duas sentenças. A if clause com verbos no simple present e a main clause com verbos no simple future. Note que a first conditional também pode aparecer invertida.
   • If + simple present + simple future + infinitivo
     • If he studies, he‘s going to pass.
   • If Clause + Main Clause
     • Main Clause + If Clause
       • I’ll ask if you want
     • If you want, I’ll ask

4. Verbos modais

   • No tempo futuro, geralmente são usados os verbos modais: will, can e might.
   • Negativos
     • Will not – won't
       • We won’t pass the exams, if we don’t study to the finals
     • Might not – mightn’t
     • Cannot – can’t
   • Positivos
     • Will
       • Usado quando o falante pensa que é provável que a situação irá acontecer.
       • If you are free tonight, he will invite you to dinner
     • Might
       • Usado quando o falante não tem certeza da ocorrência da situação.
       • If I go to Paris, I might buy an French guidebook
     • Can
       • Usado quando o falante não tem certeza se a situação irá acontecer ou não.
       • If I go to Paris, I can buy an French guidebook

5. Formação

   • A second conditional é formada por duas sentenças: a If clause e a main clause.
   • If+ simple past + would, could, might, should + infinitivo (sem to)
   • If Clause + Main Clause
     • A if clause contém o verbo no simple past (passado simples) e a main clause inclui alguns verbos modais como o would, could, might, should.
     • Main clause + if clause
       • I would buy a new house if I had a million dollars
     • If I didn’t have to work, I would go to the beach today

     • Might
       • If I lived in Spain, I might be happy
     • Should
       • I should travel round the world If I had lots of money

     • Would not – wouldn’t
       • if I were you, I wouldn't do that.
     • Should not – shouldn’t
       • I shouldn't talk like that if I were her
     • Could not – couldn’t
       • If I married Mary, I couldn't be happy
     • Might not - mightn't
       • If I lived in France, I might not speak french fluently
