Rabbit Cardiovascular System

1. Heart

   • Right atrioventricular valve has only two cusps
   • Pulmonary artery has a large amount of smooth muscle which can contract vigorously during anaphylactic shock

2. Central ear vein

   • Avoided for blooding sampling due to fear of thrombus
     • But may be used in an emergency with 25-27 gauge needle

3. Lateral ear vein

   • Can be used for blood sampling with 25-27 gauge needle
   • Can be used for fluids

4. Cephalic Vein

   • Mat be used for fluids or sampling

5. Lateral saphenous

   • Can also be used for venapuncture

6. Jugular Vein

   • Used with caution
     • Major part of drainage of blood from the eye
       • Thrombus formation may cause orbital oedema
