BODS with ECC(Data Transfers)

1. RFC

   • most preferred method, faster, easier
   • Connection method
     • Import SAP DS delivered functions /SAPDS/* or /BODS/* in SAP Server (readme) 900187.R22 transport package included in Data Services R3_functions/transport folder
     • Management Console-> SAP Connection->RFC Server Interface -> RFC Server Interface Configuration
     • Define Program Id and other details
     • RFC Interface Status-> Select Interface -> Start
     • Login SAP-> Transaction SM59->TCP/IP Protocol
     • Technical Setting->Program Id->Test Connection
   • New from DS 4.1
   • ABAP has to be generated first can be done either by generate_and_execute OR generated in Dev and transported to UAt and Prod

2. Shared Directory

   • SAP Should have write access and DS should have read access
   • Working directory on SAP server = DI path to the shared directory

3. Custom Transfer

   • Batch file has to be created and specified that does the download for you

4. FTP

   • FTP Host name and credentials
   • FTP relative path to SAP working directory
   • DI communicated on ABAP completion, PASV method to download file
   • DS User needs permission to read SAP File

5. Direct Download

   • Simple but unreliable and Slow, for large data
   • GUI Download ABAP function call
   • Cannot set Execute in Background
   • DI not communicated till transfer is complete
