1. It is a group/team working together to maximize their individual and collective learning

2. What does a cooperative model look like?

   • Reciprocal Learning. They learn as an individual and as team.
     • if the team does not understand the task, do not do it alone but guide them
   • Teams are made up of high, medium and low academic achieving students.
     • The teacher mades tthe group
   • The teams are diverse in terms of gender, race, culture and socioeconomic status.
     • the more diverse the group the better
   • Every member cooperate and collaborate in the tasks
   • Team members benefit when they share skills and learning with each other.
   • Rewards are oriented towards the group.

3. 5 Elements of cooperative learning.

   • Interpersonal and small group skills
     • Be able to manage conflicts.
       • Talk and find a solutiton
     • Provide effective leadership.
     • Be able to make decisions.
     • Be able to build trust
     • Be able to communicate
     • Be motivated
   • Positive interdependence
     • Taks and goals are defined, so they do their best
     • Efforts of each team member benefits the individuals as well as the group
   • Group processing (Reflection)
     • communicate openly, freely, respectfully discussing their concerns.
     • describe what members actions are helpful and unhelpful.
     • make decisions about behaviors to continue, to change, or discontinue.
   • Individual and group accountability
     • Each team member must contribute to the group.
     • Each team member must help the group reach its goals.
   • Face to face promotive interaction
     • teach each other
     • Promote one another´s success.
     • Explain how to solve problems.
     • Checks for one another´s understanding.

4. Essentials of effective cooperative learning groups

   • Participation
     • when they participate it means that they share and this results in a mutual learning process
   • Trust
     • they learn not only to believe in themselves but also in others
   • communication
     • does not refer to understanding the language but to understanding different thoughts and actions
