LANDING GEAR

1. CONVENTIONAL

   • three wheels
     • 2 located ahead of the aircraft's center of gravity
     • one, smaller located at the back of the fuselage( tail)
       • THIS PROVIDES A THIRD POINT OF SUPPORT 
   • consists of
   • USE
     • Older general aviation airplanes
   • DISADVANTAGES
     • Since the tail is free to move in any direction, the airplane is very difficult to control when it is landing or taking off

2. TRICYCLE

   • Consists of
     • 3 wheels
       • ADVANTAGES:
         • -permits better visibility -allows more forceful application of the brakes-makes the aircraft easier to handel on the ground- makes landing safer
       • 2 MAIN wheels
       • a wheel located on the nose
         • The nose wheel usually provides steering control
   • USE
     • on both large and light aircraft,

3. TANDEM

   • USE
     • Very large aircraft
   • two sets that are located one behind the other on the lower fuselage
