1. HDPE shell for excellent toughness and wear resistance. Low density and weight to allow DS4 to be carried easily

   • Good chemical resistance as to not react with any spills of drinks
   • Very cost-effective which helps manufacturers keep product cost low - maximise profits
   • HDPE is prone to stress cracks, seen with this controller - potential planned obsolescence

2. Joysticks are made from rubber to prevent fingers from slipping whilst gaming

   • Whilst rubber generally has good abrasion resistance, PS4 controller joysticks are seen to wear down very quickly
   • Technical faults such as controller drift exist with these controllers, making the game difficult to play

3. Silicone behind buttons is easy to wear down and begins to stick to the buttons

   • This makes the controller less responsive when pressing the buttons, which worsens the user experience

4. The charging port is easily damaged due to the amount of times you plug in the USB cable to the controller

   • Charging mods such as wireless connectors or switching to USB C would be much better

5. Standard Phillips head screws hence built for maintenance, but the casing is very difficult to separate into its two parts

   • A Phillips head and flat head screwdriver would allow you to fully disassembly the casing

6. Only weighs 210g to be inclusive, especially to younger ages

7. Ergonomics of the joysticks aren't great, there isn't much comfort on them as they feel quite rough

10. The touch bar could be deemed a waste of money. It isn't utilized properly by any game and where it is, it serves the function of a push button rather than a touch screen

11. The shell is a two part injection mould, which uses standard screws to fit the two parts together

    • No sign of any waterproof sealing on the inside of the controller. SONY state the device isn't waterproof but due to the covers on buttons it should be able to handle minor splashes
