Arithmetic Progression
5 consecutive terms of A.P. :(a-2d),(a-d),a,(a+d),(a+2d) 6 consecutive terms of A.P. :(a-5d),(a-3d),(a-d),(a+d),(a+3d),(a+5d)
3 consecutive terms of an A.P. :(a-d),a,(a+d) 4 consecutive terms of an A.P. :a-3d,a-d,a+d,a+3d.
Arithmetic progression is a sequence in which each terms is obtained by adding a first number to the proceed term
- Each number of an A.P. which is in a sequence is called a term of an A.P.
- A.P. having finite numbers of terms is called a finite A.P.
- Each number of an A.P. which is in a sequence is called a term of an A.P.
When members of a series are in definite order we get a progression and it follows a certain rule and has a specific formula to calculate its n th term .
A group of numbers arranged in definite order is sequence.
General Term of an A.P. = l,l-d,l-2d ...is Tn=l+(n+1)(-d) where last term =l
nth term of an A.P. is Tn=a+(n-1)d where
- a=first term n= no.of terms d=common difference
Difference between two successive terms of an A.P. is called common difference
