Cyclic Photophosphorylation
  1. Definition
    1. The synthesis of ATP during photosynthesis, coupled to the cyclic electron transfer to and from P700, involve in photosystem I, using a series of electron carriers.
    2. Purpose
      1. to produce ATP faster
        1. Why?
          1. to produce 1 molecule of glucose, 18 ATP and 12 NADPH are required.
            1. not enough ATP are synthesized in non-cyclic photophosphorylation
      2. Pathway
        1. What triggers it?
          1. accumulation of NADPH from non-cyclic photophosphorylation
            1. as result, switch from non cyclic photophosphorylation to cyclic photophosphorylation
