- The state achieved when the forward and reaction rates occur simultaneously at the same rate and the concentration of the products and the reactants remains constant

- If factors affecting equilibrium are changed, equilibrium will shift in the direction that tends to cancel the effect of the change.
- Factors affecting equilibrium
- Concentration
- Increases in concentration = system tries to decrease it
- If forward reaction is favoured, conc. of products increases, conc. of reactants decreases
- If reverse reaction is favoured, conc. of reactants increases, conc. of products decreases
- If forward reaction is favoured, conc. of products increases, conc. of reactants decreases

- Exothermic = Solution gains heat / Endothermic = Solution loses heat
