Techniques for Testing
Test harnesses - This is a piece of software that has already been made that is activated when a change is made in the system. this change is then tested by system and any errors are are shown. this allows the developers to see if the changes have been made and also if the system has any new faults due to the changes
Performance testing - This tests how much data a system can handle in a certain area. This also shows what is making the system slow down and what area it is slowing down.
Volume testing and scalability testing - Volume testing is the amount of data a system can handle, this is a test taken place to show how much data a system can handle. Scalability is similar in that it estimates how much data is needed for the system to handle and therefore shows what needs to vbe done in order to store that much data.
Usability testing - This is a test that allows the users or just people to use an ICT system in order to show if they can or cant use it, this allows the developer to make changes in order to make the system easier to use for the user.
Multi-platform/portability testing - The system is tested on multiple different hardware in order to check that it is compatible with multiple platforms.
Prototyping - This is a system that has been made and put into place to use in order to find any bugs are allow the user to find anything that could be improved
Use of simulated environments - Use simulated enviroments in order to test the system, this can be simulated hardware and software in order to see if the system is compatible with different types of software and hardware.
