Aesthetics: The torch has a glossy finish and has a universal black colour to go with it. There are also no signs (at least from the photos) of any joints between the plastics adding to the sleek design.
Cost: For this item, the prices tend to fluctuate, however it is often retailed at between £25 and £40. In comparison to other solar powered torches, the price is fairly high, but most of these torches do not have the same features this torch offers.
Customer: The intended costumer for this, is someone who needs a torch but doesn't want to charge it as well. Because of its added function of a power bank, it could be used for someone who's camping or hiking etc.
Ergonomics/Anthropometrics: The main body of the torch has a diameter of 37mm. Having looked at anthropometric data from http://www.ergonomics4schools.com/lzone/tools.htm the maximum grip diameter of the 50 percentile (the most common measurement) for males is 52mm, whilst it is 48mm for females. This means that the torch can easily fit in the grip of the user, which is further proven as the 5 percentile is 45mm (males), 43mm (females) and so the torch should fit comfortably in almost everyone's hands. The botton on the top is a simple on and off switch making it very easy for someone to operate.
Safety: As it is an LED torch, most of the energy is not wasted in the form of thermal energy and most of it is used for the intended use as light energy. This means that the torch will be very hard to burn someone as it won't become hot. The corners are also rounded and so it is unlikely that people will get cut.
Size: The torch is fairly large as a torch as it is 255mm in length, so could be quite hard to store, but on the other hand; it should be easy to find and so can be easily found in times of need.
Function: The torch has a simple function of providing light for people without any. However, on the bottom is an added power bank and can be used for charging products that use a USB (Universal Serial Bus).
Material/Manufacture: The main body of the torch is made from plastic; presumably ABS ( Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) which can be injection molded into shape. The rest of the body consists of a solar panel and a mirror with the LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) probably protected by either glass or clear acrylic. Plastic could have been chosen over metal as it is cheaper although metal provides better heat dissipation for the LED, however plastics do not conduct electricity and can resist corrosion and wear.
