   • An imaginary line that runs around the middle of the Earth
   • Northern hemisphere
     • Contains most of the continents
     • 39% land 61% water
   • Southern hemisphere
     • Mostly contains seas and oceans
     • 19% land 81% water

2. Rotation of the Earth; days and nights

   • The Earth spins on an imaginary axis that runs from the North pole to the South pole.
     • It completes one rotation every 24 hours
       • Rotation causes days and nights

3. Revolution of the Earth; seasons of the year

   • Is the movement of the Earth around the Sun
     • Takes one year to complete a revolution of the Sun (365 days, 6 hours and 9 minutes)
       • Leap years have 366 days, we add one day in February
