Cell Structure and Transport

Cell Structure and Transport

1. Movement across a membrane

   • Diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of ............... concentration to an area of ............ concentration along the concentration graidient
   • Osmosis is the movement of ................... particles from an area of ............... water concentration to an area of ............ water concentration .............. the concentration graidient across a .................................. ............................... membrane
     • in a dilute solution (where the concentration of water outside of the cell is higher) water will .......... a cell
       • A plant cell will become .......................
       • An animal cell will ................... and can ....................
     • in a concentrated solution (where the concentration of water outside the cell is lower) water will .......... a cell
       • A plant cell will become ....................... but will not burst as it has a ................ .........
       • An animal cell will ...................
   • Active transport is the movement of particles from an area of ............... concentration to an area of ............ concentration .............. the concentration graidient

2. Cell structure and function

3. Specialised cells

   • Function and adaptations
   • identifying some specialised animal and plant cells
     • animal cells
     • plant cells

4. Observing cells

   • Using a microscope
   • Preparing a slide
   • Using the IAM triangle
