1. WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?

   • Is the practical applicatios of knowledge and skills to create a solution to satisfy our needs or problems
   • PRODUCES
     • Objects and develops systems or strategies that solve problems and satisfy our needs from rthe simplest to the most sophisticated

2. FACTORS IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS

   • When a solution has been found, it is converted into a technique. This is a skill sometimes we know how to do and is used for future technological solutions.
   • Knowledgw of physical and scientific concepts, technical drawing, knowledge of materials and their properties, work techniques, economic factors and information technology

     • PROBLEM ANALYSIS: giving ideas to solve problems, discussing solutions, learning things to help us ... HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES: cutting, using tools...
   • DIFFERENT SPACES
     • CLASSROOM: where we can work on and develop our ideas and proyects WORKSHOP: where we can use tools, spicial machinery... LIBRARY: a place that help us by consulting material to complete our proyect STOREROOM: two areas one for the materials and the other for thre proyects
   • TIDINESS AND ORGANISATION IN THE CLASSROOM WORKSHOP
     • TIDINESS
       • . LAYOUT OF MACHINERY should be easy to work
       • .GOOD ORGANISATION OF THE MATERIALS AND PROYECTS should be easy to work and avoid accidents
     • PLANING: to ensure the best use of our time. Each student of the group has a task which they must do.
     • HYGIENE AND SAFETY RULES
       • HYGIENE: is a part of medicine that deals with staying healthy and preventing illnesses SAFETY: is the prevention of and personal protection from risk when doing an activity
     • SIGNS
       • Are the resource that we use to show or highlight an istruction. There are 4 types: mandatory, warning, prohibition and emergency

4. MATERIALS FOR TECHNICAL USE

   • WOOD: we get from trees, we applicate in furniture, industrial paper, construction..., there are 3 types hardwood trees, softwood trees and derivate, have many properties and we can use machines and tools on it.
   • PLASTIC: we get from oil, coal, animal proteins..., we applicate in pipes, packaging, containers..., 2 types natural and synthetic, have many properties and we can use scissors, files, glue... on it.
   • METAL AND ALLOY: we get from minerals in rocks, we applicate in tools electronic components, 2 types ferrous and non-ferrous, have many properties and we can use circular saw, drill... on it
   • TEXTILES: we getfrom vegetables, animal and mineral raw materials, we applicate in clothes, carpets, curtains...., 2 types natural and synthetic, the properties that have are elastic, resistan, durable and impermeable and we can use scissors, sewing machine...
   • STONE: we get from rock, huge blocks of sand, we applicate in construction material and decoration, 2 types pure and blends, have many properties and we can use for painting, polishing...
   • CERAMIC: we get from shapping clay and cooking it at hight temperatures, we applicate in decorative elements...2 types thick and fine, have many properies and we can use oven, paint, varning... on it.

5. TECHNOLOGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT.

   • technology helps us to solve problems. Unfortunaly sometimes we can harm the environment
   • We need to think about 2 stages APPROACH AND ANALYSIS OF THE NEED OR PROBLEM: is the problem or need real? Are we being influenced by other people or by adversting EVALUATION AND TESTING PRODUCT : in our F.A.C.E value evaluation, ii more important economic or social environmental factors
   • SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: is development that meets the needs of the present so that future generations will be able to meet their needs
   • Sustainable development policies work in five areas that have clear objetives and have their proposals
