1. But

   • Pero, excepto, sino
   • Se puede utilizar como preposición de modo, pero también como conjunción y como adverbio. Además, sirve para formar diversas expresiones muy corrientes en inglés y habituales en la vida cotidiana.
   • I need to finish this project, but I don't have enough time. I studied for the test, but I don't think I did well

2. Although

   • Aunque, a pesar de, no obstante, si bien
   • Son conjunción y, por lo tanto, unen dos partes de una oración. Es un poco mas formal
   • Although I was tired, I kept studying Although it was raining, we went for a walk

3. Even Though

   • Se utiliza para poner más énfasis
   • Aunque, aun cuando, si bien
   • I played even though I didn't do my homework This is impossible, even though many try to do so.

4. Though

   • Aunque, sin embargo
   • Muestra el contraste cuando dos cosas son diferentes e incluso contrarias u opuestas. Es más informal. Quizá se usa más al hablar.
   • The response is easy and very logical, though slightly common. And though it seems informal, this is just the first step.

5. However

   • Sin embargo, no obstante
   • Es un adverbio conjuntivo que puede usarse para unir cláusulas principales o para modificar una cláusula. Se utiliza en situaciones formales
   • We won’t be able to finish on time however hard we work
   • I want to go to the cinema; however, I can't afford a ticket.

6. In spite of

   • A pesar de, no obstante
   • In spite of having studied, I did not pass the exam.
   • Expresan un contraste entre dos cosas. Es mas informal
   • in spite of having done all my homework, I don't feel safe.

7. Despite

   • A pesar de
   • Suele utilizarse de manera más formal
   • Despite not sleeping well, I am not sleepy
   • Despite not having done my homework, I did not get my grade

8. Nevertheless

   • Se utiliza cuando dice algo que contrasta con lo que se acaba de decir .
   • Formal
   • I already went to bed, nevertheless I didn't do my homework
   • Sin embargo, no obstante
   • I don't want to get up, nevertheless I have classes

9. Notwithstanding

   • A pesar de, sin embargo
   • Es sinónima de la preposición despite o de la expresión in spite of. Normalmente se utiliza en contextos formales
   • Notwithstanding doing everything they failed me
