- Identifying the target audience helps the marketer decide which format to use (videos, songs, pictures, texts etc.) and where the ad is going to be published (newspaper, magazine, billboard, social media, TV, radio etc).

Some common ad formats for the online environment are: Banner ads: the aim is to display an image and wait for users to view and click. Targeted advertising consists in presenting the consumers with ads that better suit their specific traits, interests and shopping behavior. Companies use information such as gender, age, location and political views in order to target their audience.
To give commands and orders, you use the imperative. The form of the verb used for the imperative is the base form of the main verb, which is used without a subject. Structure: verb + object (if needed) Walk to the corner, turn right and cross the road. Open your mouth and say "Aaaah". The negative imperative is made with do + not or don’t. Don't lose that key. Do not come back without it!
Why do ads use the imperative? Just like Nike's slogan implies that you do not need to know, you need to "just do it", the use of imperatives in ads does not give the reader any room for argument, no room to back out or make a choice. It directs the consumer in such a persuasive way that is bold and without remorse. It commands the reader to buy the product or the idea being sold in a subconscious way.
