1. Declarative Sentence - Sentence that forms a statement

2. Interrogative Sentence - Sentence that proposes a question

3. Imperative Sentence - Sentence that makes a command or request

   • Mitigated Imperative - Using hedging or modal verbs to make a sentence seem less direct

4. Exclamative Sentence - Sentence reflecting strong emotion and feeling using exclamation

5. Hyperbole - Extreme Exaggeration

6. Euphenism - Sopthens or hides a meaning (hedging) e.g passed away

7. Parenthesis - Use of brackets

8. Influenticial power - power used to influence/persuade others

9. Synthetic Personalisation - Construct a relationship with the reader e.g You

10. Ideology - Set of beliefs or attitudes set by an individual or group

11. Passive Verb - A word stating something will be/ does get done

12. conjunction - Used the connect phrases

13. Modal Verbs - an auxiliary verb that expresses necessity or possibility e.g might, should, would, must

14. Accomodation - How a text accomadates for different readers

15. Lexical Connectives - connectives that link up to create cohesion

    • Cohesion - How well the text fits together as a whole

16. Jargon - terminology used that is specific to the topic/subject

17. Downward and upward convergence - How language is altered to relate to a new audience e.g politician talking to teenagers to relate to them

18. Dialect - form of spoken language specific to a area

19. Sociolect - spoken language of a group e.g working class

20. Idiolect - Language which is personal/ specific to the person
