Binary Logic

1. Background

   • Decides between 2 states - 1 and 0
   • Uses simple transistors and capacitors
   • Computers use transistors and capacitors to store data
   • Can wire multiple transistors together for simple logical calculations - whether input 1 or 0
   • These circuits called logic gates

2. AND Gate

   • Output true if both inputs true

3. OR Gate

   • Output true if either or both inputs true

4. NOT Gate

   • One input - output opposite to input

5. NAND Gate

   • Combination of AND and NOT - output true when one or both inputs false

6. NOR Gate

   • Combination of OR and NOT - output true when either or both inputs true
