1. Apps

   • Software applications written specially to make use of limited memory resources,touchscreen and connectivity found in these devices
   • Apps include navigation to pin point your location and where you want to go, accessing email to send messages to employees,choleegs or other business, viewing web pages to surf the internet to reaserch important information to do with work, storing photos to use in presentations or to display on work.
   • Some unapproed apps could contain software which allows hackers and viruses to enter your computer/phone system which allows them to delete or take important information on customers

2. data capturing methods

   • Data capture forms are pre-printed forms or online forms or online forms with prompts or questions nd spaces for the answers
     • Data can be captured manually by using paper based (eg questionnaires) or online forms
       • Online forms are used to enter data directly into computer systems, normally over the internet using websites. this form of capturing is usually used to collect key information on new customers or prospective customers ( eg by an estate agent).
     • Some people do not prefer having their details collected online, and so prefer to fill out a paper based form themselves or have an employee do it for them
   • Data capturing forms limit the type of data entered by using: drop down menus which is where the user is forced to choose from a range of options already present on the form, Boxes to choose activities of interest, single character text box for each letter of the users full name, pre-set format that makes sure all forms are completed in the same way, radio button to force the user to make single choice form several options and lastly validation rules to make sure data is entered by the user is in the correct formatn and also meets specific requirements (eg telephone number has correct number of characters and no spaces or a postcode is in the right format)
   • When creating forms make sure to avoid using too small font- not able to read easily, making boxes to small so not able to right in or have too many/not enough of them,asking vague questions such as "What do you like best?", Not specifying the format for data entry ( eg a box asking to type in a date of birth)
   • There is often a necessary requirement to capture data automatically ( eg controlling a heating or air-conditioning system).Sensors are used to collect data about physical parameters: Temperature,pH ( level of a swimming pool for use in water quality control systems), light ( light levels in a room),pressure ( detecting the pressure of a person standing on a door mat)

3. Smartphones

   • Portable mobile computer that has features such as: text messaging,diary and calender-plan events/meetings happening, web browser, media player-view videos and listen to music,digital camera,GPS system,touch screen ( input and output),apps.
   • Advantages
     • Small and light-easy to carry, suitable for mobile communications with colleagues,viewing info,sending and recieving emails whilst away from the office, can be used for entertainment-listen to music whilst doing work
   • Disadvantages
     • Cannot carry out many office tasks
     • Company smartphones can allow employees to look or download unapproved software which can reflect badly on the company
       • This can be a breach of copyright which can lead to the user to be prosecuted
   • Advantages of Restoring smartphones
     • Delete unapproved apps, remove email details.

     • WIFI-Smartphones will be in the office on the network and capable of downloading data
