1. 1. VERBO + PREPOSICION

   • Verbos casi siempre seguidos de una particular preposición
     • approve of; enquire about; insist on; look forward to; succeed in
       • son seguidos por nombre o verbo en -ing

2. 2. VERBO + OBJETO + PREPOSICIÓN

   • accuse someone of; congratulate someone on; forgive someone for; prevent someone/something from; suspect someone of

3. 3. VERBO + DIFERENTE PREPOSICIONES

   • agree with someone / agree about something
   • ask for something / ask about something
   • laugh about /laugh at
   • think of / think about
   • throw at / throw to
   • shout at / shout to
   • point at / point to

4. 4. TO BE + ADJETIVO + PREPOSICIÓN

   • be angry about (something); be angry with (someone); be good/bad at (something); be pleased about (something); be pleased with (something or someone); be rude/polite/(un)kind to (someone)

5. 5. PREPOSICIONES PARA EXPRESAR QUIÉN, CÓMO Y POR QUÉ

   • a) BY
     • con la pasiva para indicar la persona o cosa que hace la acción
       • The window was smashed by Andy
     • + -ing para mostrar como algo es hecho
       • He smashed the window by hitting it with a hammer / He got in by breaking a window
   • b) WITH
     • + nombre para una herramienta u otro objeto usado para una propósito
       • He smashed the window with a hammer
       • He covered his face with his handkerchief
   • c) FOR
     • + -ing o un nombre para explicar el propósito de una herramienta u otro objeto
       • Hammers are normally for knocking in nails, not for smashing windows
       • He keeps a bag of tools in his car for emergencies
     • + -ing o un nombre para explicar la razón para algo
       • The owners of the house thanked him for saving their property
       • He received an award for bravery

6. 6. EXPRESIONES CON PREPOSICIÓN

   • a) maneras de viajar
     • by air, by plane, by road, by car, by bus, by rail, by train pero on foot
   • b) maneras de contactar con la gente
     • by post, by email, by phone, pero to be on the phone (usando el teléfono)
   • c) maneras en que las cosas pueden ocurrir
     • by change, by accident, by mistake pero on purpose
   • d) condiciones y circunstancias
     • in love, in trouble, in debt, in charge (of), in secret, in private, in public, in/out of control, in/out of sight, in/out of danger, in/out of difficulties, in a hurry, in a temper, at peace, at war, at work, at home, on holiday, on/off duty, on business

7. 7. EVITANDO ERRORES

   • a) on the way / in the way
     • I´m going to my office so I´ll call and see you on the way (=entre dos puntos en un viaje)
     • I can´t move the table because that chair is in the way (=bloqueando un camino entre dos objetos/personas)
   • b) on time / in time
     • If the train is on time, I´ll be home at six (=puntual)
     • If we leave now, we´ll be home in time to see the news (=en o antes de tiempo correcto)
   • c) in the end / at the end
     • She didn´t want to come with us, but in the end we persuaded her (=el resultado final)
     • It was a great show and the audience applauded loudly at the end (=la última cosa a ocurrir)
