lesson 1 - plot

1. after a battle in Scotland, Macbeth and Banquo meet three witches who make three prophecies:

Macbeth will be thane

Macbeth will be king

Banquo's sons will be kings

2. the first prophecy come true and the king, king Duncan makes Macbeth Thane of Cawdor.

3. when the king Duncan visits Macbeth's castle, Macbeth is persuaded by lady Macbeth to kill the king in his sleep to make the second prophecy come true.

4. with help, Macbeth frames King Duncan's servants who are now dead by this time for the murder of the King. Duncan's children leave Scotland in fear of their safety.

5. Macbeth then becomes King and orders some murderers to go and kill Banquo and his sons so that the third prophecy doesn't come true
