- 2The enzyme DNA helicase attaches and moves along the DNA molecule, unwinding the DNA and breaking hydrogen bonds between complementary bases.The strands start to seperate.
- 3Each strands act as a template. new individual DNA nucleotides are attracted to exposed complementary bases on template strand and base pairings occurs (A-T and C-G)The enzyme DNA polymerase now joins the new nucleotides together through a condensation reaction forming phosphodiester bonds between the new nucleotides.
