- 1Why can contractures?Muscles becoming stuck due to lack of full ROM and poor positioning of the residual limb.
- 2Why can DVT occur?These are blood clots and is usually because of the anatomical change of the residual limb which increases the risk of a DVT.
- 3Why can hypersensitivity be a problem?This could delay fitting for the prosthetic. Use techniques like desensitization during intervention.
- 4What is nuroma?Bundle of nerves the grouped together after surgery which can cause pain from scar tissue or tension from the prosthetic.
- 5What is phantom limb?When the patient feels that the limb is still there
- 6What is phantom limb pain?When the patient experiences pain where the limb no longer exist. Use modailities such as TNES and desensitization techniques.
- 7What are the psychological impacts after surgery?Depression, grief, or suicidal feelings.
- 8What is the 1# thing we look out for after surgery.Infection
