1. What is a mesh network?

   • some or all of the workstations/devices are connected directly with each other.
     • usually connected to the node they exchange the most data with.

2. What is a star network?

   • each device is connected to an individual cable directly to the server.
     • usually the layout of choice in schools/offices because they tend to be most reliable.

3. Benefits of Ethernet cables.

   • stable connection.
   • reduced possibility to hacking.
   • more secure.
   • faster traffic speed.
   • good quality signal.

4. Benefits of wifi.

   • cheap to set up.
     • more vulnerable to hacking.
       • signal quality will reduce through walls.
   • user not tied down to specific location.
     • tends to have slow transfer speeds.

5. encryption.

   • method of scrambling data with a key code which makes no sense.
     • public wifi or an open resource can be encrypted.

6. What is a network?

   • is a number of computers linked together to allow them to share resources.

7. Toplogies

   • arrangement of various elements of a network.
     • Devices connect together.

8. Protocols.

   • a specific set of communication rules.

9. Layers.

   • the organization of programming into separate functional components that interact.
     • If one layer fails, the others can be taken out without being affected.
     • Trouble shooting made easier, should an error occur.
       • Network communication is standardized.

10. POP

    • Post Office Protocol.

11. HTTP and HTTPS

    • HTTP - hypertext transfer protocol.
      • HTTPS - hypertext transfer protocol secure.
