Internet protocols

Point of Presence (P.O.P)

• Point of Presence also known as (P.O.P) is an access point to the internet. Normally, it is a location which contains all of the internet hardware which allows users access to the internet. An internet server provider or ISP's may operate several PoP's in their area to allow good access to the internet

Network Access Point (N.A.P)

• A Network Point or (N.A.P) for short is an interchange between networks within the internet. It allows ISP's to interconnect with other.

Hyper-link

• A hyper-link is a graphic element or a line of text in a internet document which can take you yo a different document or a different webpage interiorly. Some people refer to them as embedded links or embedded text or simply as text, but no matter what the'er called you'll be able to find it because they normally show up as underlined text or highlighted group of text, and when you pass your mouse over them the arrow shaped pointer should hand shaped courser. That shows you that clicking on the blue text hyper-link can take you elsewhere. This is very useful for checking out sources for a new story, but sometimes you click on one it takes you from the other story that you was reading, you can always press the back button a couple of times it will take you to the previous document that you was reading, but you can always right click the hyper-link and click open in new tab. Click that option and you'll have both pages available to you at the same time.

Internet Protocols (I.P)

• ISP Services is an addition to providing a gateway to the internet, ISPs normally provide additional services such as email. Many also provide web space for the development of websites, technical support and troubleshooting.

Internet Service Provider (I.S.P)

• ISP Services is an addition to providing a gateway to the internet, ISPs normally provide additional services such as email. Many also provide web space for the development of websites, technical support and troubleshooting.

Transmission Control Protocol

• Transmission Control Protocol is the protocol which takes data from user's application program and passes it to the IP for transfer over the internet. The reverse operation is preformed at the destination computer i.e. TCP reassembles the data (from individual packets) and forwards them to the user's application program. The close relation with IP means that the terms are usually used in combination i.e. TCP/IP

• Internet Service Providers or ISP's which is a direct connection to the internet would be very costly and so ISP s provide a cost-effective gateway for people and organisations to get onto the internet. In the UK there are many ISP s, with some of the most popular ones being BT( British Telecom), Virgin Media and Sky.

Byte

• Byte-In computing and telecommunications, a byte is a unit of digital information which commonly consist of eight bits.

Universal Serial Bus (USB)

Client-side processing

• Client-side processing is the client's computer to process web page data in data exchange.
• The code which makes this possible is a scripting language (web script). web scripts are included in the code of the web page and run when the page is loaded into the user's brows. In client-side processing it matters which browser the user is using, because this will affect how the script is understood by the computer and shown on screen.
• An example is a rollover image on a web page which changes when a user hovers their mouse over it. This is processed on the client's computer because the web page has downloaded to their machine.
