1. Bus

   • Pros
     • Cost - effective
       • Less cabling required
     • Quick to set up
     • Easy to implement and
   • Cons
     • Difficult to troubleshoot
     • Performance degrade as additions computers are added
     • If there is a problem with the connection, the entire network goes down
     • Low security
     • Data collisions are more likely
     • Proper termination is required

2. Star

   • Special Hardware Involved
     • Hub
   • Pros
     • Fast network speed
     • Easy to set up
     • Possible to add more computer systems without taking the network down
     • Any non-centralised failure will have very little effect on the network
     • Minimal network collisions
     • Better security
   • Cons
     • Expensive to install
     • Extra hardware to install

3. Ring

   • Pros
     • Data is quickly transferred without a bottleneck
     • Consistent transfer speeeds
     • Transmission of data is simple
     • Adding additional nodes has very little impact on the bandwith
     • Prevents network collisions
   • Cons
     • Difficult to troubleshoot
     • To add another node, the network must be shut down temporarily
     • If any of the CS's fail, the ring is broken and data cannot be transferred efficiently
     • If there is a problem with the connection, the entire network goes down
