Industrial Development and Investment
Low-income countries mainly trade primary products; these products are usually sold at a low price, which has an effect on the wages of workers and development.
These products usually receive a low price due to overproduction and import taxes.
Manufactured goods sell at a much higher price, so pushing these countries to produce manufactured goods pushes wages up.
China set up special economic zones (SEZs) in the 1980's to promote manufacturing, leading to more taxes and more hospitals and schools being built.
Transnational Corporations (TNCs) expand their production into different parts of the world to reduce transport costs and tariffs.
These companies help to employ local workers, bringing development to the area.
TNCs can help other local businesses survive, creating even more local work.

Aid, Fair Trade and Development
International aid is the gifting of money, goods, or services to a developing country.
Most international aid is targeted towards long-term development goals.
In 2014, DR Congo was given a grant to build a hydroelectric power project. This helped produce a lot of jobs and created a sustainable source of power.
Developing countries are sometimes gifted with educational tools for children, particularly in areas with poor education.
There have been large-scale projects to aid areas without clean water by providing water pumps.
Aid being sent by the UK usually goes to Commonwealth countries, these are countries that were previous British colonies.
Fair trade is aimed at giving farmers a fair price for their produce. If a certain crop collapses, the farmers will still get paid their regular income.

Borrowing and Debt Relief
During the debt crisis, many developing countries got loans from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and commercial banks.
In some cases, this can lead to serious problems.
Many countries can't afford to pay back loans.
Debt relief can be achieved through conservation swaps. This happens when a high-income country pays off the debt of a low-income country in an agreement to protect their environment.
Microloans can help to push development at a local level.
