Lines body cavities, hollow organs and ducts.
Forms glands (glandular epithelium). - 3General features of epithelial tissue?Closely packed cells.
Single or multiple layers of cells.
Adjacent cells linked together by cell junctions.
Bottom layer of cells sits on the basement membrane.
No blood vessels.
Nerves sometimes can penetrate the layers of cells.
Has a great capacity for renewal. - 4Functions of epithelial tissue?Protection from infection, harmful environment etc.
Secretion of fluids, sweat etc.
Absorption of nutrients, fluids, chemicals.
