    What is Organic Chemistry?
    Organic Chemistry was originally defined by Swedish chemist Jons Jacob Berzelius as the chemistry of compounds derived from living systems. Today about 60 million organic compounds are known. Which is surprising as organic chemistry is only 200 years old! Before 1828, scientists did not believe it was possible to make organic compounds from inorganic compounds.
