Air Quality: Course Introduction
This course covers the topic of Air Quality. We consider the big picture, from the blanket of atmosphere that covers our planet, to the variables that influence the carbon cycle and the process of acid rain.
Course Introduction This course covers Air Quality This course aims to answer several questions, including: 1 Which chemicals make up air, and which ones are pollutants? How do I make sense of data about air pollution? 2 What chemical reactions produce air pollutants? What happens to these pollutants in the atmosphere? 3 What choices can we make personally, locally, nationally or globally to improve air quality? The following information, included in this course, is covered at Higher Tier only: Nitrogen monoxide NO is formed during the combustion of fuels in air, and is subsequently oxidised to nitrogen dioxide Wet scrubbing Benefits and problems of using alternatives to fossil fuels for motor vehicles

The Evolution of the Atmosphere
This module describes the composition of the Earth's atmosphere. The gases of the atmosphere may be separated using processes such as fractional distillation. Both plants and animals consume gases
-
The Atmosphere and The Carbon Cycle
This Flow-chart shows the simultaneous and ever present processes that drive the atmosphere's carbon cycle. Increasing one variant will have a corresponding effect on the others.
-
Acid Rain - Causes and Effects
These notes loot at the causes of Acid Rain as well as the harmful effects of acid rain and other atmospheric pollution. We ask whether we can take steps to reducing acid rain, through changes in energy consumption.
-
Managing Change in the Atmosphere
Reducing our carbon footprint is the most important challenge for our generation. Learn how you can contribute. Helpthe planet, by lowering our dependence on fossil fuels.

Air Quality Revision Quiz
Answer these questions to discover how closely you have been paying attention. What are the components of air? In what proportions are they? Do plants breath oxygen? These and more like them.
