- 3We are trying to cancel out miles while converting miles to feet. Notice the orange part. The miles is in the denominator. Why?We put miles into the denominator so it will cancel out the yellow miles.
Which is common algebra practice.

- 4Convert 2 miles to feet using dimensional analysis equations. 5280 ft per mile.

- 5Convert feet to yards. 1 yard = 3 feet.

- 6You have created an expression with lb in the denominator and the numerator. Do these cancel out?Yes they do.

- 7x^2 + y^2 = 4 is graphed here. Is it a function? No. A function will only give one answer as an output.

- 8—

- 9—f(-6) means find -6 on the graph. see what lines up with it.
g(1) is the same.
f(-6) lines up with 7. Replace the f(-6) with 7 in the equation.

- 10—Be sure to read the wording carefully. in this case 13 is the output not the input.

- 11g(x) = -2 What are we looking for.We are looking for x.
What do you have to plug into the x coordinate to get -2 on the y coordinate.
The answer is -9
- 12—When f(x) = f(-5)
y will equal 4.
What else can you plug in to x to make y = 4?
if x = 4 then y will = 4 as well. Take a look.
- 13—Your aim is to get the output (a) isolated on one side in the equation. This way you can plug in "b" and find "a"

- 14—This is saying the difference in balance of 30 days and 0 days is 100.
M(30) - M(0) = 100.
So he has made 100 since 0 days.
- 15Turn this into an input/function/output statement"t" is the input. P is the function
P(t) = number of people on the beach at "t" hours.
Which means at 9am there are more people than 5am.

- 16Name this.

- 17Turn this into a double inequality.

- 18Convert this set notation into words."X is a member of the real numbers such that -3 is less than or equal to "x" and "x" is less than or equal to 2"
That weird "E" symbol is an epsilon.
A greek letter. Meaning "it is a member"
- 19Convert the yellow boxed statement into a words."X" is a member of the real numbers, such that, "X" is a member of [-3,2]"

- 20—This is an open interval.
Notice the open circles on both sides.
- 21Convert this to set notation.X does not equal 1
x is less than 1 or x is more than 1

- 22Find f(x). x = 3

- 23what is the domain of f(x) = 2/xf(x) does not equal 2/0.
2/0 is undefined.

- 24Can you square root a negative numberNo.
a positive times a positive = positive
negative times negative = positive
The square root of 0 = 0
Square root of a negative number = undefined.
You can however define the square root of 0 - 25Find the domain for this function.y has to be more than or equal to 0

- 26Find the domain for this."x" only has two inputs.
The domain will be written as shown.

- 27What is the domain and range in relation to functions? The domain is the numbers that can go into a function and create a defined output.
The range is the numbers that can be potential outputs.
- 28What would this look like on a co-ordinate plane?A parabola.
-5^2 = 25
5^2 = 25
All negative squares mirror positive squares.

- 29What is the range of this?f(x) is more than or equal to 0.

- 30What would this look like in a co-ordinate plane?x does not = 0. So at the 0 point you would leave an open circle.

- 31What is the range and domain of this?

- 32What is the domain and range in relation to functions? The domain is the set of all valid inputs.
The range is the set of all valid outputs. - 33What is the domain and range of this?
